Transform Thrift Store Finds into Treasures
Art show to support Salvation Army rehab program
SAN DIEGO, CA.– Local artists are invited to The Salvation Army Family (thrift) Store on Sunday, July 13, to pick out items and skillfully transform these items into one-of-a-kind treasures. Dishes, old records, tables, jewelry, furniture and other various donations will be available at no cost to the artists.
These Transformed Treasures will be auctioned off at a special luncheon in the fall to support The Salvation Army’s Adult Rehabilitation Center (ARC), a free, residential rehabilitation program for men and women dealing with alcohol and substance abuse.
On Sunday, July 13, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., The Salvation Army Point Loma Thrift Store will be open to artist only.
Select artists will be on hand to demonstrate what’s possible in the world of transformations by using their skills and expertise to show other artists a wealth of ideas.
Artist registration and participation is free, as well as whatever items they choose from the thrift store on July 13. Artists who want to get started early can sign up on-line or they can sign up the day of.
“This event allows artists like me to use our talents for the good of the community,” says Ryan Kundrath, a Transformed Treasures artist. “It’s fun to be able to make something that might change a person’s life.”
This event not only promotes recycling used items, but also brings attention to The Salvation Army, which transforms the lives of men and women every day in your community.
