Food and support instead of drugs and gangs.
Tutu is a single mom raising her 5-year-old son, Ronen. Her elderly mother, who suffers from painful arthritis, also lives with her. When Tutu’s 16-year marriage ended, she didn’t know how she would manage on her pay as a waitress.
“I felt like a rug was pulled out from under me,” she admits. Tutu’s family lives in a neighborhood fi lled with gangs and drugs. But thanks to friends like you, Ronen has received scholarships to attend activities in a safe haven at the Kroc Center. “I feel so fortunate,” she says. With the high cost of food and rent in our area, this family is just getting by.
They’re so grateful for the help they receive from The Salvation Army. At Christmas they receive food to cook a traditional Christmas dinner — and wonderful donated gifts for Ronen. “It was very special,” says Tutu. “My son was so happy.” Because of the kindness and services she’s received from you and The Salvation Army, Tutu wants to give back. And her gratitude to you shows: “Each donor’s gift goes a long way,” she says. “It affects the entire neighborhood and our city.”
