5 Reasons Why Your Fundraising Matters

The season of giving is here – and it always feels better to give than to receive.

This year, give to those in need by creating your own Red Kettle Reason Fundraising Campaign at www.redkettlereason.org, and raise life-changing funds for The Salvation Army. While there are hundreds - if not thousands - of reasons why your fundraising campaign matters, we’ve selected our top five to share with you.

1. Your support makes miracles happen. When someone gives to your fundraising page, hungry children get warm, nutritious meals and families continue to have heat in the winter. The money you give creates miracles for people in need. No matter how much you raise, something as small as $20 can provide a day’s worth of nutritious meals for a family of four.

2. Because giving is its own gift. The Salvation Army has always said that we rely on the help of our supporters to make good happen. This continues to be true every day. Fundraisers like you give their precious time and money to help us achieve our mission of helping anyone in need without discrimination.

3. You create a community. From one to 100, anyone can join in your efforts. Why not include your whole family in your fundraising campaign this Christmas season? Here’s an idea - have a little fun and turn it into a family competition: whoever raises the most for their kettle chooses this season’s family activity. Or, ask your friends and family to give to your kettle in lieu of a Christmas gift this year.

4. Creating lasting memories in another’s heart. There’s an old saying: “A person may forget what you said, but they will never forget how you made them feel.” This couldn’t be a more truthful statement. Your fundraising efforts make lasting impacts on the people we help, which makes our community a better place to live, work and play. A mother will remember when her child was able to have a bright Christmas thanks to the gifts you helped put under the tree.

5. You become a source of warmth. By becoming a fundraiser, you’re choosing to be a source of warmth in our community. You are choosing to become the difference between a child’s full belly and a night filled with hunger. You’re choosing to care instead of looking the other way. You’re choosing to create change. When you’ve decided to support the wellbeing of your community, everyone benefits.

Every dollar you raise becomes help in the form of food, housing, Christmas gifts, and much more for individuals and families in need. It’s easy to create your own fundraising page at www.redkettlereason.org, and start making the season bright in your local community.
