San Diego, CA (November 2016) – Ring in the holiday season with The Salvation Army of San Diego at its Red Kettle Kick Off on Thursday, November 17, 2016 at The Westgate Hotel, 1055 2nd Ave.

The event, sponsored by The Westgate Hotel and San Diego Magazine, will benefit The Salvation Army in San Diego, and kick off the Red Kettles that will be present in San Diego County through Christmas Eve. This year, The Salvation Army of San Diego hopes to raise $835,000 through its Red Kettle campaign. Money raised from The Salvation Army’s Red Kettle campaign support vital programs in the San Diego community during Christmas and throughout the rest of the year.

Special guest Corbin Bernsen is most well-known for his roles in NBC TV series L.A. Law, USA Network’s hit series PSYCH and has hosted Saturday Night Live. Bernsen has a special relationship with The Salvation Army and is a longtime supporter.

Live auction items include two tickets to see 'Hamilton' in New York, two VIP seats to the Tournament of Roses Parade and Rose Bowl Game, and private yacht rides.

“We have a very special evening planned that those interested in giving won’t want to miss out on,” says Major George Baker, Salvation Army Divisional Commander. “This is my first Christmas as Divisional Commander in San Diego, and I’m impressed with the generosity and support of San Diegans. I can’t wait to see that grow.”

The evening begins with a VIP reception from 5-6 p.m. The VIP reception is an intimate gathering with the honorary committee and special guest Corbin Bernsen. Tickets are $300 and also include a signed Bernsen-designed snow globe and complimentary parking.

The honorary committee: Sherry & Kevin Ahern, Betty Beyster, Joye Blount & Jessie J. Knight, Jr., Mayor Kevin & Katherine Faulconer, Jenny & Bill Griffiths, Celia Lanning, Sandra & Armon Mills, Susan & Fred Oliver, Zandra Rhodes & Salah Hassanein, Lori & Steven Sefton, Louarn & Alan Sorkin, Susie & Dean Spanos, Barbara & Don Teemsma, Sheila & Kirk Walwick, Richard Woltman, and Police Chief Shelley Zimmerman.

The Red Kettle Kick Off main event, emceed by 10Anchor Robert Santos, is from 6-8 p.m. and will include a silent and live auction, remarks from Bernsen, heavy hors d’oeuvres, a photo booth and more exciting features. Tickets are $150.
